Terra Renee, AAWIC President and William "Bill" McCreary (Emmy Award Winning TV Journalist & Former Vice President of Fox Television) will be honored by the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce in Celebration of Black History Month.  This historical event will take place at the General Society Library located at 20 W.44th Street and will be hosted by Cherly Wills of NY1.

About AAWIC

AAWIC is dedicated to providing a platform and showcase for aligning experienced and novice filmmakers, directors, producers, screenwriters and actors.  It is the goal of AAWIC to give artistic women a path to fulfilling their dreams through showcasing their talents, exposure to peers’ interaction, and mentoring by established professionals.

OUR MISSION

Our goal is to expand, explore and create opportunities for minority women filmmakers within the entertainment industry through:

Enlightenment

To publicize and increase various resources leading to the development of the practical skills necessary to advance in the business of filmmaking and offer them to minority women seeking self-expression through the medium of film.

Empowerment

To encourage, promote and support talent, individual expression and diversity for the good of the individual and society as a whole.

Entertainment

To showcase the work of talented minority women filmmakers through the production of film festivals, script readings among other developmental projects.

Education

To produce industry panel discussions, workshops, seminars that foster continued learning and nurture growth.

Enterprise

To develop a database of contacts within the film and television industry consisting of writers, producers, directors, actors, tech people and general information that would be accessible to aspiring and working filmmakers.

In addition, African American Women in Cinema recognizes, promotes and encourages diversity and cultural exchange by actively seeking out both creative and business collaboration and alliances with any other organizations that share similar goals and ideals.
